Our name

Gauche has long been shorthand for awkward. For being a little out of step, a little outside the expected. 

We see that differently.

To us, gauche is an invitation to embrace what makes you unmistakably yourself: the quirks, contradictions, instincts, and ideas that don’t always fit neatly into the mold. It’s about joyful self-expression, individuality, and making room for a little play.

The name is also a subtle nod to Paris’s Rive Gauche—a place historically associated with artists, writers, thinkers, and people willing to see the world differently.

Those ideas come together in Maison Gauche.

Our brand

Maison Gauche designs everyday objects for people who don’t believe everyday has to mean ordinary.

We take deeply functional things and approach them with intention, color, and a sense of play. Not to be different for difference’s sake, but to make objects that feel alive. Pieces that hold their own. Things you reach for every day and somehow never stop noticing.

We begin with bags and baby goods because early parenthood is one of life’s most transformative—and identity-shifting—chapters. We think the things that come with it should make room for the person you already are.

So we design with a point of view: thoughtful, expressive, gender-fluid, and made for modern life. Pieces designed to move through the mess, motion, work, travel, parenthood, and everything in between.

From there, we expand into the home.

Because home is more than a place. It’s the feeling of recognition. It’s where you exhale. Where you’re seen without explanation. Where the objects around you begin to tell your story back to you.
